Draycote Water, Severn Trent Water
Encourage footfall and using greener materials
Draycote Water Country Park, part of Woodland Trust, contacted KOMPAN with the aim of refurbishing their previous play area. The equipment was over 10 years old and provided little play value in comparison to the more modern equipment available. Draycote Water were looking for a supplier to create a new imaginative, physically challenging and coordinated play experiences for children and young people visiting the site.
It was essential for the new area to be made more accessible, the new design contained many inclusive features like a variety of low-level play panels, wheelchair roundabout, inclusive nest swing, group seesaw with supportive backrest and sensory totem poles.
The 5.5m high Spacenet and 5m high Mega Deck multi play unit provided a real ‘wow’ effect and accommodates a large number of users. The toddler area was fully refurbished with bright, inclusive and inviting equipment along with new fencing and rubber mulch surfacing.
The equipment is made from an average of 61% recycled materials across the site. KOMPAN can create playgrounds that contain up to . The feedback back from visiting families has been extremely positive helping to increase footfall to the country park and making them stay and play for longer.
Inclusive, and inviting for multiple users
The final design proposal for Draycote Water created a destination playground that was inclusive, inviting and accommodated a large number of users. The new equipment provides over 30 play features and now accommodates over 130 users.
