Wooden countryside themed playground to complement its natural surroundings
The Souldern Recreation Ground had been condemned after the timber had reached their end of life. The children in the area were without any local play equipment and so the council did a fantastic job in fundraising £90k. They consulted with play companies and decided on KOMPAN to be their provider. Their feedback was that we provided excellent service, knowledge of play, and also our Robinia product range was robust and pleasing to the eye. Being in a lovely green field site, they wanted the play equipment to complement its natural surroundings. Feedback from the council, local community and visitors travelling to see the area has been extremely positive with it quickly becoming a destination play area! The Wizard’s Hideout and Tree Top Climber were included as centre pieces and to also offer various degrees of challenges for the visiting children. Our Tractor multi-play was chosen to add a countryside theme and has so far been the most popular item. Springers and a roundabout were also added for those spinning and rocking experiences. A multi-swing frame with different seats for all ages and abilities was extended along with the addition of an activity trail when the client was able to raise a further £17k!
“KOMPAN were very clear and understood the requirements for the new play area and produced a design that met all the elements laid out in the villages vision. They helped and supported through the fundraising process and were flexible in their approach to splitting the development into phases.” “The project management of the installation worked well including on site visits to tweak the final plans. Project timelines were met to the schedule agreed and even managed to finish a week early.” “The final playground that was delivered has been highly rated from visitors and their young users.”
