Did you know Kompan was born as part of a housing development? Over 50 years ago, KOMPAN was founded by 'accident' following an observation on a housing estate when children adopted a local art project as playthings. Seeing the children's playful interactions with the artistic sculptures led to envisioning play sculptures as a way to bring art and play together. 50 years on, we're still delivering high-quality outdoor and to local communities across the UK. Today, playgrounds are no longer an add-on; instead, they are an integral part of the mix. Evolving landscape of playgrounds – an essential aspect of childhood that now takes a turn towards responsible materials and practices. Play is nature. We do our best to preserve it by making colourful playgrounds with 95% recycled materials*.
*95% post-consumer recycled waste used in HDPE panels, the Hercules Rope yarn, and the TexMade™ posts.
Our playground solutions can be as colourful as your heart desires – but with a dramatically reduced carbon footprint. EcoCore™ HDPE panels in the colour teal are made from post-consumer ocean recycled waste collected from the maritime industry, such as fishing nets, ropes and trawl nets. All other colours are made from post-consumer household waste.
Since 2021, KOMPAN has made it possible to receive documentation on the full carbon footprint of a standard product together with CO2e/kg and the recycled percentage of the total product to make it easy to compare with other types of products.
