Farmyard Fun
Muiravonside Country Park play area was old and tired and badly needing an upgrade. Through a tender process and widespread community consultation, the client, Falkirk Council appointed KOMPAN to deliver a new destination space. Muiravonside is Falkirk's only Country Park, providing 170 acres of stunning woodland and parkland and is well known for its demonstration farm where you can see Highland cows, rabbits, ferrets, exotic birds and much more. This identity led to KOMPAN’s designers settling on a ‘farm’ theme for the new play area. The play area has been designed to be inclusive with accessible and inclusive equipment. Key to the design proposals was removing existing steps in the play area and making it easy access for all. The aim of the project was to provide an inviting, inclusive sensory experience. The play equipment has been carefully designed to support all aspects of a sensory experience and with the farmyard theme. Cows, chickens, ducks, mice, sheep and of course the farm cat can be found in the play area. The design wouldn’t have been complete without the huge KOMPAN red tractor for hours of imaginative play! The new facility has been a sensation with visitors to the park which truly delivers on KOMPAN’s ‘wow stay develop’ philosophy.
Fun and Sustainable
Muiravonside has the first KOMPAN Megadeck barn in the UK. The Megadeck has a unique variety of speedy sliding, gentle swaying and not least challenging climbing activities. All these are in a see-through tower, promoting thrill and social interaction. The panels on the Megadeck are made of 19mm EcoCore™. EcoCore™ is a highly durable, eco friendly material, which is not only recyclable after use, but also consists of material produced from +95% recycled post consumer material from food packing waste.
