customer case

When this tender came out it structured differently to this customer’s usual tenders. They wanted to see this play space become a destination style site, with zoning focused on play activities and types of play rather than just age. The aim was to create a natural site with land forming, green and brown colours to suit the site location in it’s green space. We included some of our very popular key pieces, and also complemented them with two bespoke tower units. These tower units cater for many users at once as they have ramp access, accessible stairs, multiple types of slides and challenges as the users travel through them. The play unit with ramp access has a ‘mega deck’ allowing wheelchair users to turn and use the panel games from on or off the unit. This has resulted in amazing feedback. Since it’s installation, we have done several opening event sessions with local schools and they are all super happy with the new facilities, asking to add it to their weekly outings! Local SEN groups use this space as it is accessible and very disability friendly in many ways such as the wheelchair carousel and interactive play panels. The multi goal and panna court are also proving very popular with the older children. We aimed at the very start to create a space that would quickly become a destination playground, and this certainly delivered. Families and visitors from the surrounding areas are now travelling purely to come to the new play area.

“In order to deliver the new play area at Laburnum Avenue. We appointed KOMPAN to do the initial design and also help shape the consolations and engagement. We held weekly site meetings with the installer, designers and sales reps discussing elements that could be amended and altered for the benefit of the scheme and long term maintenance. The end result was a well-designed and installed play area and I would have no hesitation in appointing KOMPAN again, especially if we can continue with this ethos of joined up working.”
