Sustainably conscious playgrounds
For a company like KOMPAN, more than 80% of carbon emissions created during production comes from the raw materials we use. In an effort to change this, we are committed to lowering our carbon emissions by increasing our use of sustainable raw materials. The end result is playgrounds that don't harm our planet.
There are 2 ways to go
1. Playgrounds that are made green
By using recycled waste sources, we are able to create playgrounds with a low carbon emission footprint.
2. Playgrounds that are born green
Playgrounds made with nature's own materials are also known as nature playgrounds. We use Robinia wood from sustainable forestry. You can also go even greener with FSC-certified wood.

All KOMPAN playground products come with a calculation of their carbon emission footprint and are verified by a third party. This way, you'll see how much carbon emission has been derived from its production.

The wood we use
A playful tree sort
The Robinia tree is crooked and whimsical in its look. The tree's bark has deep lines that make it look old and wise.
Sustainable forestry
Robinia grows faster than any other tree sort and is harvested from sustainable forestry in Europe.
Robinia lumber
Underneath the bark, the Robinia lumber has a beautiful, warm color. It is soft for children to touch.
Naturally durable
Robinia wood is nature's most durable wood type. It is known for its natural preservatives that make it ideal for a long lifetime in the outdoors.
Design on nature's terms
All Robinia play structures are pre-assembled at the factory to fit the naturally uneven wood pieces together.
Play close to nature
The Robinia wood blends in perfectly with natural surroundings.
Sustainably conscious is becoming the new standard
Decks
All decks for one of our best-selling ranges, MOMENTS™, are now as a new standard made of 75% ocean-recycled waste.
New processes
We've developed a more sustainable extruding process. All extruded aluminum is now made using a low-carbon process.
Playground Panels
All KOMPAN standard panels now have a core made from 80% post-consumer recycled waste.
