Introducing OrbitPlay: Your New Interactive Play Solution

In today's digital world, getting children outside to play—especially teens and tweens—is not always easy. OrbitPlay offers a compelling solution. It speaks the language of today’s children: digital, dynamic, and social, while delivering the physical and emotional benefits of traditional play.

To bring this experience to life, OrbitPlay is built around four core elements: a hot‑dip galvanized steel arch, the PlayHub, six touch sensors, and an external 100–230V AC power supply that supports OrbitPlay's low energy consumption (about 0.5 kWh per six hours of daily use).

At the center of the arch sits the PlayHub—where every game begins. Here, players select the game, get onboarded, and learn the rules. These interactions are supported by the PlayHub's sunlight‑readable LED screen, touch interface, sound system, and radar—all secured in a weather‑ and vandal‑tested casing and connected via a SIM card with 10 years of data included.

Surrounding the PlayHub are six outdoor‑rated touch sensors—compact mini‑computers with integrated LEDs and sound—engineered for continuous outdoor exposure. Together, the PlayHub and sensors create the responsive, movement‑driven play experience that defines OrbitPlay.

What is interactive play?

Interactive play is active, social, and responsive. Players engage with each other and the environment—solving challenges, moving, and communicating—rather than consuming passive entertainment. On an interactive playground, this happens through touch‑based inputs, light and sound cues, and cooperative game rules that naturally invite teamwork and shared experiences.

How does it work?

  • Game Rotation System: OrbitPlay cycles through 12 games each year, keeping the experience new, fresh, and engaging for returning players.

  • Smart Monitoring: Remote diagnostics and usage tracking help optimize performance, support maintenance planning, and demonstrate ROI.

  • Customizable Settings: Adjustable sound levels, open/close times, and more allow you to fine‑tune OrbitPlay to your specific environment.

How do you design an interactive playground?

Enable Playful Learning

Combine cooperative games, reaction challenges, and memory tasks that inspire teamwork, negotiation, and the development of key cognition skills.

Plan for Inclusion

Design for diverse ages and abilities, supporting side‑by‑side play, flexible participation, and positive interactions among children and caregivers.

Add Social Space

Provide seating, clear sightlines, and shared gathering points so bystanders can become active supporters who easily join the play experience.

Keep It Fresh

Rotate content regularly with monthly or annual game packs, ensuring the interactive playground stays new, engaging, and exciting throughout the year.

Operate Smart

Utilize remote diagnostics, adjustable settings (such as volume and open hours), and durable, weatherproof components to minimize maintenance and downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Interactive play equipment—such as OrbitPlay—is straightforward to install. It requires only a 230V power outlet and a 10–50 meter cable, and the three posts can be mounted on most surfaces, making it easy to integrate into an existing site.

OrbitPlay is developed in collaboration with digital play specialists, designers, and engineers to ensure long‑lasting performance and safety. Installation is quick, and the system requires minimal ongoing maintenance.

To give you added peace of mind, OrbitPlay also comes with the best warranties in the industry.

Interactive playgrounds don’t require a specific surfacing type, as there is no fall height. However, we recommend installing OrbitPlay on a durable surface such as poured-in-place rubber, rubber tiles, or asphalt. Softer loose‑fill surfaces—like grass or sand—tend to wear down quickly due to the high level of activity around the product.

Interactive playgrounds like OrbitPlay run on a standard 230V power outlet. OrbitPlay uses approximately 0.5 kWh per day—about the same energy consumption as leaving a coffee maker on throughout the day. To conserve energy, OrbitPlay can also be programmed to switch off automatically during nighttime hours.

Even though OrbitPlay includes a screen, it cannot be compared to an iPad, phone, or computer. In a world where digital devices dominate and outdoor activity continues to decline, OrbitPlay offers a meaningful alternative. It speaks the language of today’s children—digital, dynamic, and social—while still delivering the physical, social, and emotional benefits of traditional play.

The screen at the center of the arch serves only as a play starter. It provides verbal and visual instructions, displays cues, and helps guide the flow of the game. It also invites spectators to get involved by showing what’s happening in real time, encouraging more users to join the play rather than sit on the sidelines.

OrbitPlay is designed for minimal maintenance. The system is weatherproof, vandal‑resistant, and built for long‑term public use. Routine care includes basic cleaning, visual inspections, and occasional checks of the power supply. Thanks to remote diagnostics and usage tracking, most issues can be identified and resolved quickly. Game updates and software monitoring are handled online, keeping the play experience fresh with very little effort required from the owner.

OrbitPlay is optimized for 1 to 8 active players at a time, depending on the game and group size. The design encourages not only direct participation but also social interaction—children, parents, and even bystanders can join the fun by cheering, following along, or engaging around the play area.

Interactive play structures like OrbitPlay are designed to complement surrounding playground equipment and fit seamlessly into both new and existing play areas. The inclusive, multigenerational design pairs well with traditional and accessible play structures, creating a vibrant social hub that enhances the overall playground experience.
