Souderton Borough Community Park

The Borough of Souderton wanted to build a vibrant community hub that allowed all ages to enjoy movement in the fresh air. They knew adults would be at the park watching their children on the playground, so positioning the outdoor fitness center as part of the caretaking process would lead to increased usage of the equipment there and overall longer visits. By situating the outdoor fitness gym between the two age-group separated play spaces, KOMPAN worked with the Borough of Souderton to design a fully integrated outdoor solution that lets everyone enjoy physical activity.

The two play spaces are separated by age group and feature playground equipment chosen with play priorities and ability in mind. The larger playground lets children ages 5-12 find thrills and explore through their senses on the Sensory Dome, a play tower, and a Supernova. Children ages 2-5 will find a play tower suited for their smaller size, along with standalone play equipment, like the Double Car and Activity Panel, that encourage imaginative play and engage their growing tactile skills.

At the outdoor fitness area, the Cross Trainer Pro lets caretakers watch their child on the playground, all while engaging in heart-pumping cardio. A full collection of outdoor strength machines, including The Leg Press, Chest Press, Horizontal Row, Lat Pull Down, and Shoulder Press, feature adjustable seating and weight loads, just like equipment found in an indoor setting, as well as different handle accommodations. The cross-training station provides a place for both bodyweight and Magnetic Bell exercises.
