Community-Led Push for Play
How can a municipality deliver a playground families will not only use, but treat as a beloved cornerstone for the community? How can communities tailor make the playgrounds in their neighborhoods to fit their needs and values? When Better Claremont Playgrounds, a grassroot organization formed to bring natural, engaging, and inclusive playgrounds to their town, presented the dire need for a Lewis Park revamp, the City brought their budget and ask to playground vendors. KOMPAN answered the call with two wooden playgrounds that provide thrilling play that blend into the site's natural surroundings.

New Heights on Wooden Playground Equipment
Two play spaces, one for ages 2-5 and the other for ages 5-12, can be found at Lewis Park. The younger age playground features a play tower, music play panels, swing set, and spinning play equipment. Older kids will find the ultimate thrill and physical challenge with the Cliff Rider, a pendulum play structure that tests strength and coordination. A Jungle Dome provides endless climbing play and opportunities to socialize and make new friends at the summit.

My three kids—ages 5, 8, and 12—often go more than once a day, and I especially love that my oldest, Noah, who helped advocate for this project, still chooses to spend time there. This playground hasn’t just transformed the park—it’s brought new energy to our entire neighborhood.”
