An Active Community Hub, with More Ways to Move

A beloved park in the heart of Lincoln, Nebraska, Tierra Park is a hub for recreational activity. Its sports courts, skate park, and pavilion invite people in, and multiple trails converge at the park, drawing in runners, cyclists, and walkers to the green space. Today, it hosts the world’s first FitBLOCK, a first-of-its-kind, pre-designed fitness solution featuring cardio and strength equipment. Now, Lincoln residents and families of all ages and abilities have access to a true, full-body workout.

"The goal of our Parks and Rec department is to serve people where they're at, not only on their fitness journey, but also where they are at in the community itself. The FitBLOCK just adds to that amenity structure for the community."

Maggie Stuckey-Ross, Director of Parks & Recreation

Cardio to Calisthenics, Plus Strength & Mobility

Designed for movement and connection, the FitBLOCK at Tierra Park consists of three main areas—cardio, strength, and social. Four cardio machines, including a Bike, Cross Trainer, Recumbent Bike, and Arm Bike, each feature adjustable resistance—allowing users to find their desired level of workout intensity. The Assisted Step gives beginners and seniors extra support with its handrail and short stature, while also giving advanced athletes a space to perform dynamic step variations. A large strength training area offers exercises for all muscle groups. Stations include abdominal and lower benches, step platforms, high and low pull-up bars, suspension training and ring cross-training systems, and universal parallel bars, which are particularly useful for wheelchair users. The stations cater to all fitness levels, providing easier or more challenging variations of each exercise. The social corner is a designated seated space for rest and conversation between sets or before and after workouts. The FitBLOCK wall gives users a feeling of privacy and seclusion from their surroundings, while displaying workout program signage.

Getting Residents Active Sooner

Installation at Tierra Park was made faster and simpler due to FitBLOCK’s plug-and-play setup. As an all-encompassing outdoor fitness solution with incorporated surfacing, the Lincoln Parks & Recreation Department’s work was reduced, only needing to find the 41’5” X 41’5” space. After initial talks began in late summer 2025, FitBLOCK at Tierra Park welcomed its first users by September 2025.

"Having that layout already predetermined is a huge step forward because it's something we don't have the expertise in. So being able to rely on our partners to provide that expertise is a huge bonus for us." - JJ Yost, Assistant Director, Lincoln Parks and Recreation
