Robinia Playground in Record Timing

Bernal Heights Recreation Center, located in a residential neighborhood in the southeastern part of San Francisco, is a community hub where families can gather for basketball, gym time, and other activities. With an aging playground in need of replacement, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department decided the playground at Bernal Heights Recreation Center would be its first project under the City's new Playground Renewal Program, an initiative that allows the purchase and installation of high-quality playground equipment through pre-bid contracts. By partnering with KOMPAN and its OMNIA cooperative purchasing network, San Francisco Recreation and Parks had a turnkey play solution for families to enjoy in less than a year.

Wooden Play Equipment to Climb, Swing, & Spin

At the heart of the design is the impressive 3-tower Robinia Castle. This piece of wooden playground equipment offers a wide range of play activities, from ground level climbing to upper-level rope bridge, swinging, and sliding fun. Crafted from responsible forestry Robinia hardwood, it’s a true statement piece. Younger children can find age-appropriate nature play at the Robinia Village and Play Panels. A wheelchair-accessible Universal carousel provides opportunities for all children to enjoy spinning play together, and rocking playground equipment and a swing set playground continue the fun.
