Physical activity among preschool children

Outdoor play is the key to more physical activity in preschools

This study shows that the children in a preschool where they spend most of their time outdoors in a well-planned activity area have a 35% higher level of physical activity than the children in the other preschools in the study. The World Health Organization recommends that all children and adolescents should participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity for a least 60 minutes a day. This study set out to examine the level of physical activity among the 3 to 6-year-olds during their time spent at preschool. In order to positively influence and improve the physical activity level of preschoolers, free outdoor play in well-planned play areas is key.
