At Sct. Albani School in Denmark, the playground is a year‑round destination—even when the famously unpredictable Danish weather kicks in. To keep children active in every season, the school needed durable, high‑quality equipment that could inspire play, movement, and exploration for all ages.
With 220 elementary‑age students and 50 preschoolers, the school required a solution that met the distinct needs of two very different age groups. The final design features two dedicated areas—one for preschool and one for school‑age children—each thoughtfully equipped with products that match their developmental stages, abilities, and play preferences.
Since installing the new playground, both the school and preschool have seen a clear increase in children choosing to spend time outside. In the preschool area, the space has become a hub for learning through play, helping children practice important skills such as turn‑taking, collaboration, and motor‑skills development. For older students, the new equipment brings fresh motivation to be active outdoors and engage socially.
The project also reflects a longstanding partnership between KOMPAN and Sct. Albani School. After many years of collaboration, the reliability and longevity of KOMPAN’s solutions continue to shine through. Maintenance needs remain minimal, and when adjustments are needed, KOMPAN responds quickly—ensuring the playground stays accessible, safe, and ready for play with minimal downtime. This dependable support gives the school lasting peace of mind and ensures the playground continues delivering value year after year.

"There is no doubt that if the children have a motivating playground to play on during recess, they are happier. And happy children learn more easily."
- Lars Bendix, Former Principal, Sct. Albani School, Denmark
At Sct. Albani School, every product was selected in close collaboration with the school and preschool to ensure the playground met the exact needs of their students.
For the school‑age area, they chose the Explorer Dome—a high‑capacity structure that accommodates up to 70 children and supports ages 5 to 12. Its dynamic climbing activities help build motor skills and strength, while offering plenty of elevated hangout spots that older students, especially girls, naturally gravitate toward.
To engage the older children who often feel they’ve “outgrown the playground,” the school added a calisthenic fitness site. Set slightly apart from the main play area, it gives students a dedicated space to move, train, and gather with friends.
Because the school sits within a beautiful historic building, the playground also needed to complement its aesthetic. For the preschool, they selected the whimsical Robinia Fantasy Play Tower—a fairy‑tale‑inspired structure featuring multiple slides and a rope bridge that challenge balance and coordination. Its interactive play panels offer younger children creative opportunities to learn, explore, and play side by side.
