Voss Activity Park

With the lake Vangsvatnet, large forests and high mountains, the city of Voss is idyllically located in Western Norway. Voss is best known for its spectacular scenery, but also as an adrenaline capital, where you can paddle, parachute, paraglide and ski. In recent years, the city has also become known for its new activity park, which offers a playground, skate park, volleyball courts, outdoor fitness centre and beautiful open spaces. The activity park has easily become the community's favorite place to play and exercise. The park is filled with equipment for young and old, and the outdoor fitness area is so popular that the local fitness centre uses the park for their outdoor boot camp sessions in the spring and summer. In addition to the fitness area, the park also has a large natural playground with age-appropriate activities, and right next to it is the large skate park.

In 2023, Voss Activity Park won the Landscape Architecture Award! The park's design, together with the open landscape space, is absolutely magical, but with its beautiful location right next to the lake Vangsvatnet, there is also a risk of flooding. The entire area has been flooded six times, most recently in the autumn of 2024 when extreme weather filled the entire play and training park with water. The area has therefore been designed with flood defense in mind as the area has visitors all year round. With concrete soles and other flood protection measures, all the structures are founded and dimensioned to withstand Vangsvatnet's tides. Visitors can also see the various flood peaks on the flood pillars. Since opening in 2017, the park has experienced temperatures ranging from +30 to -30 degrees centigrade, flooding, snow and sunshine without showing any signs of damage, rust or rot on the device or in the Flexotop and concrete base.

With a natural playground, climbing structure and outdoor fitness equipment, all children, young people and adults can play and exercise all muscle groups while enjoying the beautiful view of Vangsvatnet. The play and fitness areas are universally designed with a solid surface and are suitable for all ages and functional levels.

The training area and the large Explorer Dome climbing structure are made of pre-galvanised and powder-coated steel, which comes with a lifetime guarantee, while the playground with its playhouse, swings and springers in Robinia wood is naturally resistant to rot and will last for at least 15 years. The surface of the playground is Flexotop rubber, our own surface, which comes with a guarantee of up to 5 years. The entire activity park is therefore designed with many users in mind, with easy access to the equipment, and a long lifespan - even with the risk of flooding, as the pictures above also show.
