Observer

Colour PINE WOOD

Loading Designer
With its multiple platforms and climbs, the Observer attracts world explorers among school-age children. The variety of thrilling climbs and crawls via nets, steps, ladders, horizontal and tilted floors, and climbing tubes stimulate children’s balance and cross-coordination, and the proprioception: The variety of inclined, straight, swaying and firm climbs provide fun challenges for all. It gives ways up and around the Observer for bigger and lesser daredevils. The motor skills trained are essential for children’s physical confidence and their security in moving, for instance, in the street. The senses of balance and space, a fundamental life skill, are trained when children whiz down the slide. The platforms and nets create meeting points for socialising and chilling with friends.

Play Value

Play value is the value gained from play, the value that makes the child 'want' or developmentally 'need' to undertake the activity and thus gives the play item holding power. Play value can be described very precisely in developmental terms, looking into the human physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental stages.

The overall framework applied for these factors is the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which quantifies "environmental information on the life cycle of a product and enables comparisons between products fulfilling the same function" (ISO, 2006). This follows the structure and applies a Life-Cycle Assessment approach to the entire Product stage, from raw material through manufacturing (A1-A3).
