Robust materials and fixings as well as blending in seamlessly with the natural aesthetic of the park

London Borough of Croydon were seeking a company to install a range of metal outdoor fitness equipment to replace the original softwood timber trail which had started to prematurely deteriorate.

The equipment needed to be installed in a trail around the park which featured a circular path popular with runners and walkers. Wandle Park undertook a large restoration a number of years ago, funded mostly by Heritage Lottery Funding with improvements to the River Wandle, natural play equipment, café, community gardens, skate park and MUGA areas. The new gym needed to be made from the most robust materials and fixings as well as blending in seamlessly with the natural aesthetic of the park.

The KOMPAN range of outdoor fitness equipment perfectly aligned with these goals, incorporating equipment which provided an improvement on the types of exercises and muscle groups that can be developed at Wandle Park. A 'Moss Green' colour palette has been used to blend into the park surroundings. The steel equipment is hot-dipped galvanized and benefits from industry-leading guarantees.

The council and local residents alike have been particularly pleased with the equipment which was installed with minimum disruption to the public and at a very competitive price. The council were greatly impressed with the addition of the app which sets the KOMPAN Fitness range out from others and offers a social value to the contract.

In addition to the fitness equipment provided, park users will benefit from access to the KOMPAN Fit App which includes demonstration videos and suggested workouts based upon the equipment that can be found there. All of the equipment for Wandle Park is loaded onto the app whereby users can select the site for specific suggested workout routines, whether the goal be to build strength or lose weight.
