Old Station Road Play Area, Halesworth Town Council

At the beginning of 2026, KOMPAN successfully secured the contract to redevelop the play area at Old Station Road on behalf of Halesworth Town Council, following a competitive tender process. Located in the heart of the community, the existing play space had reached the end of its useful life.

Understanding the Town Council’s desire to revitalise this important community asset and create a modern, inclusive, and engaging destination for local families, we developed a comprehensive solution that transformed the underused site into a vibrant play environment.

The redevelopment of the Old Station Road Play Area was carefully designed to maximise play value while respecting the site’s existing constraints and surrounding environment. Throughout the design process, particular consideration was given to the nearby residential properties. This approach helped minimise disruption, reduce waste, and deliver excellent value for Halesworth Town Council.

This project emphasised inclusivity, sustainability, and community engagement, reflecting KOMPAN’s commitment to creating healthier and happier communities through play. The design incorporated inclusive features such as an accessible swing seat, WeHopper, and a dedicated toddler area.

Since its completion, the transformed play area has become a vibrant community hub, offering exciting opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, and inclusive play.

The result is a high-quality, future-proofed community asset that encourages active lifestyles, fosters community pride, and provides an attractive meeting place for local residents and families for many years to come.
