Jenners Field, Tandridge District Council

Transforming a destination playground for future generations
Tandridge District Council were looking to procure the contract for playground design and refurbishment of 6 sites across the district. KOMPAN were successful bidders for 5 sites of which Jenners Field was one.
As one of Tandridge’s destination playgrounds, the brief was to add new equipment, enhancing the facilities. We were also required to improve accessibility and build better resilience to wet weather. The original playground included predominantly soft timber installed into a bark pit and was suffering from rot and decay. We managed to fulfil the brief, completely transforming the surface from bark to wet pour throughout, also including new inclusive yet challenging play features. As part of the tender submission, we produced a detailed design and 3D visualisation along with a mobilisation plan on how we envisaged carrying out the works.
As standard, we selected KOMPAN equipment which was made from up to 95% recycled post consumer plastic, fully certified and verified by Bureau Veritas to help Tandridge District Council towards achieving their goal of net zero emissions.
Despite a potentially challenging access across a large field, we were able to ensure the playground was installed with minimum disruption to the rest of the park and left site, clean and tidy with the reinstatement of existing turf areas in good condition.
Following the successful installation of the playground, KOMPAN hosted a grand opening event during half term which was attended by many local school children, families and council representatives. Goody bags, refreshments and raffle prizes were provided by KOMPAN as social value for the project to the delight of the local community.

“Brilliant park. I would recommend coming here!”
