Ferryfield Recreation Ground – Phase 2, Aylesford Parish Council
Working together to complete a community play destination
Following the successful completion of Phase 1 of the Ferryfield Recreation Ground project, Aylesford Parish Council were keen to work with KOMPAN again to refurbish the remaining parts of the playground. Phase 1 included new junior swings and an Explorer Dome, but the existing timber multiplay unit and younger swings still remained and were suffering from rot and decay.
KOMPAN were entrusted to work alongside the parish council to select new equipment and work within the constraints of the existing play equipment and layout to complete the design of the playground. New modern, inclusive and exciting equipment were chosen, with the council consulting with local children to ensure that the design would meet the needs of all. After a few tweaks to the equipment and a successful bid for funding from a local Community Fund, KOMPAN were chosen to carry out the works in conjunction with trusted local installers M&M who also installed the bonded rubber mulch safety surfacing directly for the parish council.
Phase 2 of the playground refurbishment has been a resounding success, with many children of all ages and abilities able to play together.

Bringing children of all abilities together through play
The new Tourmalet multiplay allows those more able and least able to play together on one unit, providing challenges to those that need it as well as ample space for adults and carers to be part of the play. The Cocowave swing provides the thrill, the Jumper and Tipi allows for further inclusive, dynamic and fun play and all equipment is manufactured from the highest quality materials and components to ensure the playground will last a generation.
