Improving an existing playground into a safe and welcoming space, loved by families
Oxted Parish Council asked several playground companies for quotes to improve the existing playground at Boulthurst Way. The old playground had several problems - the safety surfacing was not suitable, making it hard to get around, there was little inclusive equipment and the roundabout was beyond repair.
After a site survey and talks with the Parish Council, KOMPAN proposed new equipment, including an in-ground carousel, a large trampoline, a new swing frame with an inclusive seat and a flat seat, plus interactive play panels. All were installed on a continuous wet pour surface to allow year round access.
Tandridge District Council gave extra funding to improve access around the rest of the playground. This paid for groundworks and safety surfacing linking all equipment and entrances. A new gate was added and new footpaths were built through the open space, making the playground fully accessible.
The new playground is a safe, welcoming space that children love and has quickly become a popular place for local families.

KOMPANs Social Value commitment
Oxted Parish Council chose KOMPAN to deliver the project. After it was finished, KOMPAN held a successful opening event with local school children, nurseries and council representatives. Goodie bags, refreshments and raffle prizes were provided as part of KOMPAN Social Value commitment.
