Alexandra Park, Cramlington

Over two years ago, Cramlington Town Council approached KOMPAN with the goal of upgrading their existing Adventure Playground. The council wanted to enhance the space with new playground equipment specifically designed for older children, as there is a high school nearby.

To meet this need, we introduced a range of innovative and challenging equipment, including our Corocord Spacenets, BLOXQ, and Cliff Rider unit. The equipment caters to older children looking for an adventurous and physically engaging experience. The upgraded playground quickly became a success, receiving positive feedback and demonstrating the durability and appeal of KOMPAN’s playground equipment.

Impressed by the success of the playground upgrade, Cramlington Town Council expressed interest in further enhancing the recreational space. This time, they aimed to incorporate an outdoor fitness area to encourage physical activity for people of all ages.

To test the outdoor fitness concept, the council installed a smaller outdoor gym area within the town. The trial proved highly successful and, as a result, KOMPAN was exclusively invited to deliver a full fitness area at Alexandra Park. The council provided a clear brief, to create an outdoor fitness area suitable for all age groups while staying within a defined budget.

We customised one of our standard fitness designs to ensure it fitted both the budget and the diverse needs of the community. The resulting outdoor gym equipment supports various exercises, including strength training, cardio and calisthenics, while also complementing the existing Adventure Playground.

The new fitness area has been warmly embraced by the community, attracting people of all ages and abilities. It has even led to local personal trainers adjusting their schedules to hold outdoor sessions during good weather, enhancing the health benefits for users.
