The Spider's Cottage

Colour ROBINIA TURQUISE

Loading Designer
The Spider's Cottage is a stand-out piece inviting children to come and play. Children are hugely attracted to its graded play challenges and they will come back again and again to conquer the nets, platform, and fun egresses. The inclined climbing net makes a challenging, yet manageable access to the platform. Good handholds support the entrance onto the platform. From here, three egresses await, sliding, rotate-gliding, or climbing onto the spider net. Sliding and rotating from the Spider's Cottage, apart from being great fun, trains the child's sense of balance and spatial awareness, as well as leg and core muscles. The spider net is a swaying meeting point and a fantastic trainer of coordination: creeping through the big meshes, crawling over and across the horizontal or inclined rungs train the cross-modal perception, which is important for e.g. reading skills.

Play Value

Play value is the value gained from play, the value that makes the child 'want' or developmentally 'need' to undertake the activity and thus gives the play item holding power. Play value can be described very precisely in developmental terms, looking into the human physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental stages.
