What are Commercial Springers?
Spring riders bring movement and sensory play into compact urban spaces, making them well-suited to high‑density residential estates, preschools, and public parks. As stand‑alone elements, they integrate easily into contemporary playground layouts, even where space is limited or circulation is high.
Designed for younger children, themed spring riders in animal or vehicle forms encourage imaginative play while offering a familiar, reassuring experience. Building on KOMPAN’s earliest designs, today’s springers are developed to meet recognised safety standards and fit seamlessly into modern settings from condominium play decks to neighbourhood precincts and civic spaces, providing a simple, reliable way to refresh professional play environments.

Playground spring riders deliver compact, high‑impact play value for residential estates, schools, and commercial hubs within dense urban environments. Their gentle rocking motion supports early motor coordination and introduces basic cause‑and‑effect understanding, helping younger children build balance and confidence through active play.
For operators and facility managers, spring riders offer a dependable, low‑complexity solution suited to busy public spaces and condominium play decks. Designed with child‑safe fittings and aligned with recognised playground safety standards, they provide long‑term reliability in high‑use settings.
For planners, spring riders are an efficient way to activate smaller footprints in public parks, community precincts, and mixed‑use developments. Grouping single, double, and multi‑user units around larger elements such as swings or slides helps distribute activity across the play area and ease congestion at peak times. A wide choice of iconic forms and vibrant colours makes it easy to align spring riders with the visual language of each project, keeping children engaged and encouraging repeat visits from families.
Our spring riders are safe as unique anti-pinch fittings fix the springs for maximum safety. The springers are usually placed low to the ground and have low velocity. The taller part in the front of the springer prevents the child from leaping forward. A soft layer of TPE rubber on the seat keeps the children fixed to the springer.
All our spring rider animals and vehicles have industry-leading warranties and are made of high-quality spring steel, according to EN10270, which makes them highly durable. The spring can be secured in two different ways depending on the surfacing. Please contact your local playground consultant to learn more about installation and how the springers are secured.
The spring is not adjustable, but in some springers, a PUR has been installed to counterbalance and stabilise a weight shift, e.g., the Daisy, the Crazy Daisy and the Water Lilies springers. In general, the springers have just the right amount of resistance to allow children of all abilities to have a thrilling experience.
KOMPAN invented the spring rider in 1970. A hen on a bright blue spring started it all, and we have not stopped since. Today, our selection of springers has grown to a party of more than 30 variants of fun and quirky inviting and playful springers.
