Flinders Community Outdoor Gym
A community effort to turn Flinders into a "Blue Zone"
After seeing another KOMPAN outdoor gym site in Melbourne, a Flinders resident knew they had to do everything they could to bring similar equipment to their local park. Together with the Flinders Community Association, they set out to create a "Blue Zone" - a region where people consistently live longer, healthier lives.
With this vision in mind, KOMPAN worked closely with the community to develop an outdoor gym design that enables users to enjoy an adjustable-resistance workout, catering to all fitness levels and abilities.

Nicknamed "The Blue Gym" by locals due to its vibrant blue colour and its link to the community's goal of becoming a Blue Zone, this outdoor fitness space is designed to inspire health, social connection and active living.
We created an outdoor gym featuring a mix of , and , providing locals with a complete full body workout. Popular inclusions include the outdoor bike, shoulder press, step-up station and much more.
Our strength and cardio equipment features an adjustable weight mechanism, allowing people of all fitness levels to select a comfortable or more challenging resistance level. The community has embraced the new space, which has received glowing reviews on the .
What steps were involved in this project?
After receiving the enquiry, our local expert arranged a site visit to meet with the customer. During the visit, they assessed the space, discussed the customer’s vision, and provided professional guidance on the best solutions to meet their needs.
Once we had gathered all the necessary details, our team carefully crafted a bespoke design that aligned with the customer's vision. Every element was thoughtfully considered to ensure the design not only met their functional and aesthetic requirements but also stayed within budget.
A mutually convenient installation date was agreed with the customer, ensuring minimal disruption. Once finalised, all equipment was carefully delivered, and comprehensive safety measures were put in place to protect the public and maintain a secure working environment. With everything in place, our expert installation team got to work.
The project was successfully completed within the agreed timeframe. Once the installation was finalised, our experienced inspection team conducted a thorough safety inspection, carrying out detailed checks on all equipment, surfacing, and structural elements. This rigorous process ensured that the site met all industry standards and safety regulations.
