A New, Bright, and Colorful Play Space
St Nicholas School wanted to replace their main worn-out play area with a new, bright, and colorful play area. Which would meet the requirements of their students which have a range of educational needs.
The objective was to create a space that promotes inclusive and active play in a secure setting while maximizing play value. The client emphasized the need for equipment that can be shared and accessed from multiple points. The space should also be large enough to accommodate adults. In addition to the active play zones, there should be areas designated for sensory and quiet activities, as well as ample seating.
By carefully selecting unique equipment from the KOMPAN range with the client over several meetings, we were able to provide a play area that met all the school’s requirements. The new facility has been a great success and is being enjoyed by all the students throughout each day.
“The children’s behavior has improved; they are a lot more entertained and their play has been a lot more imaginative. There is now a lot less negative behavior. It has been a success. It has been pain free working with KOMPAN. Ray has been absolutely amazing from start to finish. When he came in with designs, he listened to what we wanted. He listened to any changes we wanted to make, all within our budget and gave us ideas we hadn’t thought of that the kids would like.”

Inclusive Play for everyone
The chosen equipment was carefully selected with varying levels of ability in mind. The play tower acts as the centrepiece of the playground and with its large size, it can accommodate large groups of children at one time encouraging communication and collaboration. The Moments tractor stands as an eye-catching feature within the playground with multiple levels of entry for children to get involved. There are several standalone pieces of equipment including a playhouse and sensory play options activating equal play opportunities for all the children at the school.
