At Sct. Albani School in Denmark, the playground is used all year round - even when the Danish weather is at its most unpredictable. This meant the school needed durable, high‑quality equipment that could motivate children of all ages to get outside, move, and play, regardless of the season.
With 220 pupils and 50 preschoolers, the school required a solution that catered to two distinct age groups. The playground was therefore designed with a dedicated preschool area and a school area, each equipped with products chosen to match the children’s needs, abilities, and play preferences.
Since the new playground was installed, both the school and preschool have seen an increase in children choosing to play on the playground. In the preschool area, the playground has become a space where children not only play but also practice essential skills such as turn-taking, collaboration, and motor skills development. For the older pupils, the new equipment has created fresh motivation to be active outdoors.
KOMPAN and Sct. Albani School have collaborated for many years, and the long partnership is reflected in the quality and longevity of the playground solutions. Maintenance needs are minimal, and whenever adjustments are required, KOMPAN responds promptly to ensure the playground remains fully accessible with minimal downtime. This reliability gives the school peace of mind - and ensures that the playground continues to deliver value year after year.

"There is no doubt that if the children have a motivating playground to play on during recess, they are happier. And happy children learn more easily."
- Lars Bendix, former principal, Sct. Albani School, Denmark
All the products were chosen in close collaboration with the school and preschool to ensure they received exactly what their pupils needed.
For the school area of the playground, they chose the Explore Dome. This dome has a large user capacity (70 children) and caters to children aged 5 to 12, making it popular among many schoolchildren. Climbing improves motor skills and strength, and students will find multiple hangout spots that girls, in particular, enjoy.
A calisthenic fitness site was chosen for the older children who often believe they're "done playing on the playground". It's located away from the main playground, so the students can go there to hang out.
The school is situated in a beautiful old building, and the playground needed to complement its aesthetic. The whimsical Robinia Fantasy Play Tower was chosen for the preschool. The fairy tale-looking structure has multiple slides and a rope bridge that challenge balance and coordination. The play panels are a fun and creative way for younger children to learn and play next to each other.
