Paying tribute to local wildlife with outdoor play equipment
KOMPAN was approached by Logan City Council to design and create a piece of equipment that would harmonise with the local environment while offering an innovative, usable playground that showcases a range of play values, helping develop kids' physical, social, creative and cognitive skills. To celebrate the local wildlife, Alexander Clark Park features sculptures of koalas, platypus, flying foxes, black cockatoos, sugar gliders, kookaburras, and a common eastern froglet scattered throughout the park. The new design would follow a similar approach in paying tribute to the local wildlife.

The outcome? An iconic tribute to the local koala population
KOMPAN designed and provided a one-of-a-kind Koala robinia play sculpture that pays tribute to the area's local koala population. Positioned as a statement piece, the Koala will be an iconic landmark for the park for years to come.
Inside the Koala is a climbing rope and steps that lead to a slide, a climbing wall, and a fireman's pole, providing children with a physical challenge and diverse options to enhance their experience. At the bottom of the Koala is a station to provide an inclusive environment for all ages. The installation provides high-quality play value for children, allowing them to climb, hang, slide, crawl, and engage their senses.
This bespoke design not only pays tribute to local wildlife and the iconic Koala but also helps develop children's physical, social, creative, and cognitive capabilities.
The customer was delighted with the outcome, and the community is over the moon with their new bespoke .
What steps were involved in this project?
After receiving the enquiry, our local expert arranged a site visit to meet with the customer. During the visit, they assessed the space, discussed the customer’s vision, and provided professional guidance on the best solutions to meet their needs.
Once we had gathered all the necessary details, our team carefully crafted a bespoke design that aligned with the customer's vision. Every element was thoughtfully considered to ensure the design not only met their functional and aesthetic requirements but also stayed within budget.
A mutually convenient installation date was agreed with the customer, ensuring minimal disruption. Once finalised, all equipment was carefully delivered, and comprehensive safety measures were put in place to protect the public and maintain a secure working environment. With everything in place, our expert installation team got to work.
The project was successfully completed within the agreed timeframe. Once the installation was finalised, our experienced inspection team conducted a thorough safety inspection, carrying out detailed checks on all equipment, surfacing, and structural elements. This rigorous process ensured that the site met all industry standards and safety regulations.
