An activity space for everyone
During the completion of the new housing development at Vejle Harbour, the desire arose to establish a recreational area that would appeal to both the city's young and elderly population. The result was a dynamic activity square that combines both play and fitness. This space not only serves as an attractive meeting place for families, but also as a place where both young and old can enjoy participating in physical activity.
In addition to its role as a multifunctional space, the activity area was designed with a focus on aesthetics and natural beauty. The dark green colours of the equipment not only complement the nearby harbour but are also made from recycled materials such as textile waste and discarded fishing nets. This not only makes the area a pleasant place to spend time but also emphasises the connection to nature and the harbour area.
“Outdoor exercise provides specific physical and mental health benefits by exercising in natural daylight and fresh air.”

Benefits of combined play and training
Combining play and exercise makes sense from both an inclusive and healthy perspective. Physical inactivity is a significant health problem in modern society. That's why it's important to increase the availability of easy exercise. Combining play and fitness spaces gives parents the opportunity to be active at the same time as their children. This not only supports physical and mental health but also helps to maintain a regular exercise routine.
If you want more information about the benefits of outdoor training versus indoor training, you can read more in KOMPAN Fitness Institute's white paper.
