A new era of Jurassic thrills

The original “dinosaur playground” was beloved by Pittsburgh families, but it was time for an update. The City of Pittsburgh needed to deliver an exceptional, inclusive play space that held true to its Jurassic roots.

“The challenge was to create a dinosaur-themed playground that would capture the spirit of a previously cherished space while building something even more imaginative and inclusive by today’s standards. We achieved that with a custom stegosaurus that’s both beautifully constructed and dynamic in play function, and a diverse collection of equipment throughout that creates a space for all ages and abilities.”

Andrea Ketzel, Senior Landscape Architect, City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works

Playful fun in a prehistoric land

A custom stegosaurus provides climbing fun atop its neck and scales constructed from Robinia wood, or through its belly, made from COROCORD rope. More rope play can be discovered on the giant wooden Corocord climber. A Robinia Dinosaur Egg can be a quiet escape and offers calmer tactile play. A Robinia tower offers little ones enriching play at ground level and thrills down its slides. A Universal Carousel lets children of all abilities play and spin together. Various swinging and spinning equipment help children train their balance and spatial awareness.
