A greener future
We care about children's play and their future on the planet
Choose lower carbon emissions with KOMPAN
We make it possible to lower carbon emissions by choosing products that are either born green or made green.
For a brighter future for our children, we all must carry the responsibility of lowering carbon emission. According to United Nations we need to cut carbon by 45% before 2030 in order to keep temperature increase to only 1,5 degree.
In our industry more than 80% of carbon emission comes from the raw materials, so we have chosen to face the challenges head first, and our goal is to develop new sustainable raw materials together with our suppliers.
As a result, KOMPAN can now deliver full solution playgrounds that are Born Green or Made Green.
Born Green & Made Green
Born Green products are made of natures own building material, wood from sustainable forestry. That is why they come with very low carbon emission. Made Green products are made green because they are made of post-consumer recycled materials such as ocean waste, used textiles, food packaging waste, used plastic bags, etc. Our new Made Green, GreenLine, products come with 50% reduction in carbon emission versus the 2014 alike products (dependent of chosen product).
This means you can now make a green choice when buying a playground. Read our code of conduct here.
KOMPAN has built the first of many GreenLine playgrounds. We used ocean waste, consumer recycled plastic and textile waste. And, the playground is just as fun as they have always been in KOMPAN.
The Robinia wood and pine harvested for our products come from sustainable forestry. This means that the wood used is bred for harvesting and planting and harvesting is carefully controlled. Robinia wood can be requested in an FSC certified edition.
More than 640,000 tons of fishing gear are dumped and discarded in the ocean every year, the same weight as 55,000 double-decker busses. We recycle the ocean waste and use it in our products instead of virgin plastic materials.
The world's textile waste is up by more than 900%, from 1.76 million tons in 1960 to 16 million tons in 2021. At Kompan we repurpose the textile waste into our playground posts.
