Exciting new fitness area with both sport and fitness equipment

As part of Carden Park’s multi-level play, sport, and fitness refurbishment plan, Brighton & Hove City Council sought to install a free to use outdoor gym.

This fitness site needed to:

  • Deliver a high-quality workout comparable to an indoor gym.

  • Offer state-of-the-art equipment suitable for various abilities, including wheelchair users.

  • Provide progressive exercise options to support users as they improve their fitness.

  • Be durable, long-lasting, and easy to maintain.

Carden Park Fitness

"It’s probably as close as you’d get to a proper gym in an outdoor facility. You’ve got more space, the fresh air, which is actually better, and the ability to run errands, meet friends, and easily train together. You could even set up your own classes here. There are loads of opportunities, and it’s really great for the community."

Naomi Swales,

Personal Trainer at Freedom Leisure

Carden Park's outdoor fitness area has become a thriving community destination where people can exercise, socialise, and enjoy the benefits of training outdoors. Created by KOMPAN, the site brings together premium cardio, strength, and mobility equipment to deliver a complete workout experience for users of all ages and abilities.

From touchscreen-enabled cardio equipment to versatile strength-training stations and mobility features, the space offers something for everyone, whether they're taking their first steps towards a healthier lifestyle or maintaining an established fitness routine. Supported by KOMPAN's free fitness app, interactive instruction boards, and ground markings, users have all the tools they need to train effectively and confidently.

The facility has quickly earned praise from local residents, who have embraced the outdoor gym as a valuable addition to the area and a place where the community can come together around health and wellbeing.
