Sand & Water Play
Tapping into nature
There’s something extra pleasing about getting your hands into sand and water, especially if you are a child. In a world full of solid blocks and hard knocks, the sensory experience of something physically attractive like running water and sand is an opportunity to play and learn at the same time. When they come together, sand and water have a huge impact on the creative and cognitive development of a young child. From the sense of achievement in constructing something generated entirely by their own minds, to the dexterity of the messy hands that made it possible – it is a very tactile experience. The themes, introducing concepts like the Waterfall and Chain and Mermaid’s Fountain, help trigger imaginations.
Most features in playgrounds perform as intended by the team at KOMPAN’s Design Studio and remain stable, but with sand and water, the outcome of each day’s play in literally in the child’s own hands, and minds. It is a fascinating platform for individually in the child’s first encounter with physics, awaking creativity and understanding.
