New Riverside Barn Park

Accessible Play Inspired by Earth's Elements
New Riverside Barn Park is a sprawling 37-acre park in Bluffton, South Carolina with public trails, a playground, and a namesake red barn that will soon serve as an event venue. When the landscape architect was looking to construct an inclusive, nature-blending playground for the project's second phase of development, they worked with KOMPAN to create a custom, nature-inspired solution.

Having a Hoot with Thrills and Endless Rope Play
Ground level play, unitary surfacing, and sensory play options create an accessible, nature-based play environment. A Robinia owl greets visitors to the park, with sensory and tactile play panels tucked underneath her wings. The custom "Owl's Nest" structures are connected with a rope bridge. More rope play and freestanding play equipment can be found throughout the expansive play space. Ziplines and swings provide high-speed thrills for adventure seekers.
