Playground Cableways

King of thrills

There’s no other playground feature quite like the cableway. It demands space, it commands constant adventurers. It’s physical, yet serene. Even just waiting for the ride is a development factor in children. As they anticipate the thrill in a short line for the long line, they communicate, improve social skills, learn to be considerate, take turns. Then there is the thrill itself, the 25-meter movie-like ride that is as exhilarating as it is safe. At the end, there is the moment of social responsibility, checking if there is anyone waiting, and returning the seat to them.

It’s often a very solo experience, but sometimes, if you are really lucky, two cableways sit side-by-side. With a friend on the other seat, a race, a chance to be competitive and to learn sportsmanship, that to be a good loser is as important as to be a good winner.

KOMPAN’s freestanding range is the fun-filled route to starting, complementing or completing the perfect playground. The standalone options are as broad in variation of purpose and style as they are in materials. They range from the traditional classics of the slide and swing, but viewed with progressive eyes, to the expansive thrills of the cableways or the adventure-generating opportunities for toddler play.

Outdoor play is amongst the best and most valuable forms of development activity. To find out more about any of KOMPAN’s products or services, to open the door to the outside, get in touch today.

Are cableways safe?

How safe is safe? As a thrill-generator the cableway is hard to beat – part of any thrill is in ‘living on the edge’ with a hint of danger or menace. Risk assessment is part of everyone’s daily life and with the cableway we introduce the need for children to take time to analyse their limits and the consequents of any action. The cableway tends to up its safety level by increased caution.

Does the cableway need a sloped landscape?

KOMPAN cableways are available for both sloped landscaping with two equal high towers and for flat environments with a higher start tower to provide the needed inclination. To get on the seat KOMPAN offers towers with a long run-up ramp. Alternatively, the surplus of excavated soil from the installation can be used to make a hill with an embankment to access the seat.
