Nature Play in urban developments and public parks needs to remain engaging while withstanding year‑round outdoor use. KOMPAN Nature Playgrounds are built primarily around Robinia hardwood, chosen for its natural strength, durability, and distinctive character, with pine and other woods used selectively where they perform best. Each Robinia beam is shaped according to its natural grain, resulting in play towers, castles, and play systems with unique forms and textures.
This approach gives planners strong design freedom to create character‑rich play areas within condominiums, commercial environments, and community parks. From village‑style clusters and ship‑inspired themes to obstacle courses, play huts, playhouses, and reinforced spring elements, the range supports varied play journeys within a single site. The result is robust, visually distinctive play landscapes that add long‑term value to community‑focused developments and encourage imaginative, active play.

New nature-play materials
Northland and Countryside are designed for townships, urban developments, and commercial play areas seeking a natural aesthetic combined with professional‑grade performance. With their warm, timber‑inspired expression and robust construction, the ranges create inviting play environments that suit high‑use public settings.
Both ranges offer extensive flexibility, allowing layouts, scale, and play features to be tailored to suit specific site plans and user profiles. Well-suited to condominiums, public parks, and community hubs, Northland and Countryside help establish a cohesive visual identity while supporting engaging, multi‑age play experiences within contemporary urban landscapes.

Children are most engaged when outdoor play feels open, natural, and social. Nature‑inspired playgrounds create inviting spaces that encourage exploration, interaction, and active movement within townships and urban developments. KOMPAN works with developers, condominium managers, and local authorities to integrate nature‑themed play elements into public parks and shared facilities, supporting everyday play in community settings.
These playground concepts help soften hard urban surfaces, transforming underused corners into attractive focal points where families naturally gather, and children are encouraged to imagine, explore, and play together. With extensive international experience, KOMPAN designs nature‑inspired playgrounds that are durable, thoughtfully planned, and well-suited to long‑term use. We support the creation of coherent play environments that align with each project’s vision, strengthen the identity of the development, and deliver lasting play value for the communities they serve.
Nature‑based playgrounds offer a powerful way to enrich community life within townships, condominiums, and public parks. Thoughtful combinations of timber, rope, metal, and other tactile materials create inviting play zones that encourage exploration, social interaction, and active movement. By working with existing planting, trees, and landscape features, these play spaces support longer stays outdoors and help activate shared community areas.
Inclusive nature play areas are designed so children of different abilities can enjoy the same play zone together. Clear access to core activities—such as swinging, sliding, gliding, bouncing, balancing, spinning, rocking, and climbing—is combined with carefully selected natural elements, including planting, sand, stones, and textured surfaces. This approach encourages safe exploration while supporting confidence and independence.
An inclusive natural playground integrates landscape design and play equipment into a single, coherent layout. Graduated levels of challenge, varied movement patterns, and well‑connected routes allow children of different ages and abilities to move, play, and socialise side by side. The result is a flexible environment that supports both active play and quieter discovery within the same space.
Well‑designed nature‑inspired playgrounds attract families into shared outdoor areas and provide play opportunities that cannot be replicated indoors. They support physical activity, social interaction, and familiarity with the local environment. Over time, repeated use of nature‑rich play spaces contributes to positive social behaviour and helps strengthen the sense of community within urban developments.
about nature play solutions suitable for Malaysian townships, public parks, and condominium projects.
As part of our environmental footprint, we introduce Robinia wood to a range of long-established favourites, like swings and climbing frames and it is perfect for sand and water play. In addition to this Robinia does not need any chemical wood preservatives. Robinia products are also available with FSC® certification (C004450). -
Your walk with nature play starts here.
Robinia is the tree that gives everything. From replenishing the soil with nitrogen, to burning like coal, to providing the source for an exceptional honey, to being one of the most dense and versatile timbers. A native of eastern USA, where it is called black locust, it was introduced to Europe by the king of France’s gardener in 1602. That tree still stands in Square Viviani in central Paris. The tree can now be found growing around the world. In Europe it is most prolific in Germany, Romania and the Czech Republic. It is the wood of choice for KOMPAN because it brings strength, durability and individuality to each design.
The answer in KOMPAN terms is neither – with proper care they both should last a playing ‘lifetime’. Robinia wood has a 15-year warranty. If there is one difference the man-made Ecocore™ has a lifetime guarantee, it looks as good on day one as day 10,000, wood on the other hand matures and can often seem more welcoming with age.
A caring eye is foremost. Being part of nature at KOMPAN we let nature take its course. Most often this adds ‘character’ – the grain and knotting of wood are part of the attraction - but where the natural development might threaten structural safety, the warranty comes into effect.
