Rescue Oasis Park

Surprise, Arizona has grown from a quiet desert town into a rapidly growing, family‑oriented city of more than 170,000 residents, shaped by outdoor recreation, sports, and a distinctly youthful energy. When planning Rescue Oasis, a community recreational complex that includes a fire station, swim center, splash pad, and playground, the City set out to strengthen both quality of life and public safety through spaces that invite play and connection. With the splash pad and pools operating seasonally, the playground needed to stand on its own as a welcoming, exciting destination year-round.

In collaboration with the exceptional talents of landscape architecture firm Dig Studio and PlaySpace Designs, the concept comes to life at Rescue Oasis Park with a thoughtful blend of standard KOMPAN playground equipment and custom KOMPAN Design Studio creations.

A lifeguard‑inspired play zone and its Dune Buggy Springer, Beach Seesaw, and Watch Tower Play Tower serve as a natural link between the swim center and the neighboring fire station, reinforcing the presence of everyday community heroes while giving children a clear framework for imaginative, cooperative role play. The design also embraces the site’s natural topography as a central play feature. Rather than flattening the expansive landscape, embankment slides, hill rope climbers, and integrated PIP balls are woven directly into the slopes, transforming elevation changes into thrilling, repeat‑play experiences. These embankment elements promote full‑body movement and social interaction while keeping sightlines open and the layout intuitive for caregivers. The result is a cohesive, place‑specific playground that feels inseparable from its surroundings, a true extension of Rescue Oasis where water, safety, and adventure come together for the Surprise community.

Beyond the themed structures and embankment play, a carefully selected mix of freestanding equipment rounds out the play experience and broadens its appeal. An Explorer Dome and a custom Corocord bridge add climbing challenges that build strength, coordination, and confidence, while remaining visually open and easy to supervise. The Cocowave Pendulum Swing introduces a shared, rhythmic play moment that naturally draws children together, and the classic swing set, complete with an ADA basket seat, ensures inclusive access to one of the most universally loved playground experiences. A Mini Twister adds fast, spinning play for children, giving the playground a balance of cooperative, physical, and sensory activities that keeps families engaged and encourages repeat visits throughout the year.
