The ultimate play motivator for any child is a good tickling in the stomach, and spinning is one of the activities that can give children of all abilities just that.
KOMPAN’s new inclusive wheelchair carousel sends a warm welcome to children using, e.g., wheelchairs and walkers. When spinning, they are given extra space for navigation and sharing the experience with their caretaker, siblings or other children.
The open and spacious design allows the carousel to accommodate a large number of children with mixed abilities and encourage them to play together. Children without disabilities can spin their friends or siblings in a wheelchair and build important relations and skills. The single handrail eases eye contact between the children spinning.
Even when the play gets wild, the wheelchair stays put. The carousel has a maximum spinning capacity that keeps the child in a wheelchair safe and comfortable at all times.
The carousel floor is even with the outer surface ground, making it easy for a child in a wheelchair to enter and exit on their own.
Placed slightly further in than the carousel’s edge, the outer frame is securing a kind of scooter function for children to push other children around.
The wheelchair carousel asks for no age or ability. It just welcomes everyone to spin together.
