Cableways
King of thrills
There’s no other playground feature quite like the cableway. It demands space, it commands constant adventurers. It’s physical, yet serene. Even just waiting for the ride is a development factor in children. As they anticipate the thrill in a short line for the long line, they communicate, improve social skills, learn to be considerate, take turns. Then there is the thrill itself, the 25-meter movie-like ride that is as exhilarating as it is safe. At the end, there is the moment of social responsibility, checking if there is anyone waiting, and returning the seat to them.
It’s often a very solo experience, but sometimes, if you are really lucky, two cableways sit side-by-side. With a friend on the other seat, a race, a chance to be competitive and to learn sportsmanship, that to be a good loser is as important as to be a good winner.
