MACAULEY PARK – Inglewood
Corner Dundas Road and Hamer Parade, Inglewood, Perth WA
Laughter and the hype of fun, challenging activities is exactly what you’ll find at Macauley Park, Inglewood. From the moment you enter the playground you don’t know what to try out first. Will it be the Canopus, the Adara, Swings, hammock or maybe a crazy cow or the crazy racer as you stroll around the Park?
The Canopus (a first for WA) is designed and based on a space station. It has a solid centre core, where the space exploration and odyssey begins. The open triangle in the centre and play shell offers children the chance to climb or remain seated in the accessible seat. The spinners on the outside give young pilots the opportunity to spin fast or lightly rotate. The spinning movement forces children to recollect themselves and regain control. A valuable physical, social and emotional experience. “Beam me up Scottie!”
Then there’s the Adara… challenging, imaginative and endless play with its three dimensional climbing net allowing for a variety of access points and exploration. Children can move and transfer onto the stabile, with play shells placed at different levels. Their route continues onto the Asteroid Belt where wiggling rubber belts offer several ways to manoeuvre. The exploration is concluded with a landing on the triangular plate. “Captain we’ve landed!”
This playground was specifically designed into two sections to meet the developmental needs of varying ages and abilities of Inglewood residents. The Junior Playground houses the Setting and junior swings from the Elements range, and has a sand softfall for open ended play. The Senior Playground is an inclusive design that satisfies “access for all” requirements with its rubber softfall.
