| Kompan working with Successful partnerships Glenorchy City Council in Tasmania has completed a successful partnership with the community and the State Government resulting in an outstanding recreational resource for a local primary school and its neighbouring community. KOMPAN was a partner too in the provision of play equipment for a community/school playground. The portion of West Moonah known as Springfield Gardens has developed rapidly over the recent years. Due to the natural topography and increased housing density, community recreation areas of sufficient size had not been available for the area. As such small corner blocks were available as passive recreation areas but not large enough for active recreation. The School however had a large area of land adjoining an area of undeveloped council land known as the Devines Road Reserve. This land belonging to Glenorchy City Council and the school land totalled in excess of 30 acres. This project is a model for others to emulate. The Premier officially opened the project as it was part of a total recreation partnership package. The reserve where the play equipment is located has been renamed the Jim Bacon Memorial Reserve in honour of the late Premier. |
